LIVE Vehicle Tracking App

Developed for ... Note: This application is not supported anymore as the technology is now out of date, but at it's time it was ground breaking and we feel it is still a great example of the work we are capable of.

For the 2000, 2001 and 2002 events of Telstra Rally Australia, MAAD Solutions devised, compiled and implemented a LIVE vehicle tracking system that enabled internet viewers to view the locations of all the vehicles in the event, in real-time.

This provided accurate, up to the minute positions of vehicles displayed within a dynamic web mapping environment. The component was further enhanced for the 2001 and 2002 events.

Not only were internet users able to graphically see the positions and follow the progress of their favourite World Rally Championship driver and their competitors, but embedded against each entrant was their full statistical information.

Accompanying the web mapping component, was an event driven website that offered the internet viewer access to components for viewing live streaming video footage from helicopters flying overhead, plus audio streaming through commentary and up to the second results.

This truly provided the internet viewer with the best possible coverage, and it was not uncommon for viewers to simultaneously monitor the action through the different components. This was evident through the massive number of hits the site generated during the 4 days.

At its time, this dynamic web mapping functionality was truly innovative, and demonstrated the possibilities of what a dynamic web mapping component should be and do.

This vehicle-tracking component has been the catalyst to developing and deploying further dynamic web mapping solutions using a variety of products.
